Secretary of State

RE: Thailand’s Human Rights Abuse by the Military Junta

Dear Secretary Tillerson,

I am writing to inform you that in the wake of the coup d’état that overthrew the democratically elected government of PM Yingluck Shinawatra in May 22, 2014, people are living in fear as the military have been taking full control of the country in all the branches of government.

Countless number of activists say that they were tortured while in custody, some 105 civilians face trials in military courts, and dissent and freedom of expression have been sharply restricted.

The right to a fair trial is currently in jeopardy. In some cases, there is absolutely no justification for an arrest whatsoever.

The outset of the coup d’état, one mother was arrested for merely uttering a word “yeah” in a haphazard manner concurring to a simple statement which was allegedly deemed a violation of “lese majeste” law by the Thai authorities.

All versions of the Thai consitution since 1932 contain the clause, “The king shall be enthroned in a position of revered worship and shall not be violated. No person shall expose the king to any sort of accusation or action." The Thai Criminal Code elaborates in Section 112, also known as “lese majeste law”: "Whoever defames, insults or threatens the king, queen, heir-apparent, or regent shall be punished with imprisonment of three to fifteen years. Missing from the code, however, is a definition of what actions constitute "defamation" or "insult".

The United States have been regarded as champion of democracy in which people of the world look up to.

Won’t you please and the Trump administration do something to change the course of action Thai junta is paving the way for a more dictatorial regime.

Sincerely,

Narisara Viwatchara

An Open Letter to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra
December 7, 2017
Dear PM Yingluck,
You were charming and influential in the world stage during your tenure as the prime minister of Thailand. World leaders love you and admire you. Former President Obama was so enamored by you; I could tell from his face when the two of you were at the dinner table during his state visit to Bangkok.
The Japanese media adored you and was intrigued by your look. They even put you in the front page of their magazines and newspapers. No doubt, the French people love beautiful women. So make sure you try your best to pay a visit to France.
I know Thailand's top elite hates you and your brother. But that shouldn't be a surprise as no one in Thailand can outshine them, who somehow, with the collusion with the Thai Army, could keep docile Thai people at bay for more than 60 long years!
Of course, without the despicable lese majeste law, they won't survive a day!
I hope you have a grandeur plan in your trip aside from uniting with your beloved brother, PM Thaksin. The time is now before it is too late and the magic of Yingluck may be fast disappearing.
Please make use of your trip to set a stage to seize control of the country from those old guards and the-out-of-touch military thugs!
Please forget about going back to fight the charges of the alleged corruptions or alleged dereliction-of-duty while being a prime minister in the current court. As you are aware, there is no justice from those appointed judges. So please don't waste your time! You won't win and you may be in jail!
Do not follow the ill-advised of some pundits that you should follow the footsteps of Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma. Your situation is different, because you were already running the country and a full-fledged prime minister. Don't wait 16 long years like Aung San, PM Yingluck! You must seize the day, seize the hours now. Thai people can not afford another generation with the royalist elite at the top. This is no time for celebration until Thailand is free and become fully democratic!
I note in this trip, you have included several important countries in your itinerary aside from fleeing Thailand.
I am convinced that you will be able to claim your position as the rightful prime minister of Thailand once again, because you were unfairly robbed of your premiership by the military thug. As far as the world is concerned, you still have the full legitimacy to be the prime minister!
My common sense tells me, you should do the following:
1. Please hold a discussion with the EU and UN and all the super-power leaders such as Donald J. Trump of the USA, Prime Minister Theresa May of the UK, President Emmanuel Maron of France, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull of Australia and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan. Use your charm and lobby them to recognize you and your administration as the legitimate government of Thailand. Seek their economic and military assistance. Once they agree with you on such important issues, as I have every reason to believe that they will, the rest will be easy.
2. Hold a news conference and tell the top royalists that their rein is over and that Thai people have suffered enough. There won't be any more monarchy and Thailand will be the last country to abolish this corrupt system from Southeast Asia.
3. Tell the Army Chief Prayuth to lay down his arms and that all the arms forces to take orders from you. Failure to do so will result in his defeat by the people power revolution and the international forces from the super-powers!
4. Declare that Article 112 is now abolished and all political prisoners will be immediately set free. All pending 112 cases are dismissed immediately as well.
5. Set a date for your victorious return to Thailand with your brother. Mobilize Red Shirts to be ready.
6. Arrange for the coalition forces from the USA, the UK and the EU to stand on alert in case the Thai Army disobeys.
Respectfully,
Narisara Viwatchara
